Tony finds inspiration in fashion rather than traditional interiors. Each fall in New York, he visits Bergdorf Goodman, starting on the top floor and studying fabrics, colors, textures, proportions, construction, and tailoring—and how simple ideas become extraordinary.

 

A runway look can inspire tailored drapery; a couture detail, a custom pillow; a color combination, an entire room. One fabric, trim, button, or unexpected detail can spark something entirely new.

 

Yet beautiful design need not be complicated. A simple, well-proportioned drapery treatment, expertly made and installed, can be as elegant as an elaborate one. Tony's lifelong inspiration, Coco Chanel, showed how refining a big idea to its essentials can make it functional and extraordinarily beautiful.
